Boundary Wall Repair - large stone at Burmieston Farm 30th-31st July
The last weekend in July saw a members visit to Burmieston farm in Perthshire. Gregor Smart supervised the group, who on Saturday were Trish Waite, Ian Scott and Richard Pawlyn with Bill Thomson arriving later in the day. Ollie, the owner was also on hand and helped throughout the weekend. The fine weather was welcome. A wall was already in place however this was in need of repair and in addition, a gap was to be created to take a garden gate. The wall was stripped back and work begun on the two cheekends for the gate with the beginning of a nice curve round the tree starting to show.
With lots of good stone available, the work progressed well and by the end of Saturday, the rebuild was really taking shape.
Sunday was another dry day and Gregor again led the group. Trish and Bill were joined by Elaine Ross. After a productive morning the wall was ready to be coped and pinned in the afternoon.
After lunch, with lots of good copes to choose from, the gateway was complete and looking ready for the new gate..
A second round of delicious cake spurred us on to the finish at around 4 pm.
Thanks to Ollie and family for their hospitality over the weekend.
